The PGA of Canada, in support of Soldier On, will be starting a new program, Soldier On Golf, this September.
Money raised from the new Soldier On Golf campaign will go to the Soldier On Fund, which supports service personnel and veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces to overcome their physical or mental illness or injury through physical activity and sport. Since its inception in 2007, Soldier On has helped more than 2,200 ill and injured members to obtain sporting or recreational equipment, gain access to high-level training from world-class instructors and supported their participation in a wide range of structured activities including golf, alpine skiing, fishing and adventure expeditions. The PGA of Canada and Soldier On have partnered on other initiatives such as the Soldier On Canada National Golf Camps, whereby PGA of Canada members provide facilities and instruction to over 100 Canadian Forces members over the past three years.
Golfers who play this September at participating Patriot Golf Day courses across the country can donate any dollar amount to the initiative.
It is the hope of the PGA of Canada and Soldier On that golfers and golf fans from all across Canada will be inspired to participate in Soldier On Golf. Therefore, your participation this year will provide the necessary help to men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces through the integration of sport.
As a PGA of Canada member, you can help out by running an event or just spreading the word of the initiative and collecting donations at your facility or by directing people to www.pgaofcanadafoundation.com.
